8. Bring the Halloween Fun Home!
You don't need tickets or a special event to create a magical Halloween for your little one.
If the Manchester rain makes an appearance (as it often does!), why not enjoy some autumn-inspired activities at home?
Here are some of our favourites:
Pumpkin Painting
Instead of carving a pumpkin, give your child some washable paints and let them decorate their very own pumpkin.
It's a brilliant activity for developing creativity and hand-eye coordination.
Spooky Playdough
Use orange, green or purple playdough and Halloween-themed cutters to create pumpkins, ghosts and funny monsters.
Halloween Biscuit Decorating
Use plain biscuits, icing and age-appropriate decorations to create your own spooky treats.
Autumn Leaf Pictures
Collect fallen leaves on your next walk and use them to create beautiful autumn pictures.
Halloween Story Time
Snuggle up with a favourite book and enjoy a gentle Halloween story together.
Remember to supervise young children during craft and sensory activities, especially when using small items.
Why Are Autumn Activities So Important for Preschool Children?
At Ducklings Preschool, we believe that every little adventure is an opportunity to learn.
Whether you're exploring Heaton Park, listening to a story at your local library or creating Halloween decorations at home, you're helping your child develop important skills.
Communication and Language: Talking about colours, animals, sounds and experiences introduces children to new vocabulary.
Physical Development: Walking, dancing, climbing and exploring help develop coordination, balance and confidence.
Understanding the World: Discovering wildlife, exploring the seasons and visiting new places encourages curiosity about the world around us.
Expressive Arts and Design: Painting, crafting, dancing and imaginative play all help children express their creativity.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development: Spending time together, meeting new people and enjoying new experiences can help children develop confidence and independence.
And best of all, learning through play doesn't have to cost anything!
